Wick system for Hydrangea and Nursery pot plants.

This many use a lot of water, and a large tree also grows root under the plants.

Another pic, in the back garden.

On wick system- no watering the tree, only the reservoir.

In larger nursery pots, with a reservoir in the middle of each pod of four.

Happy

The container in a hole that was dug.

To check if water will travel by capillary action, test it, here is a micro fibre cloth. Notice the kink in the middle drips water, hence, keep the cloth going upwards.

These were too long, wrapped in plastic.

Instead, used short lengths to stop the cloth coupling to the soil.

We had a few hot days, and the Begonia didn't like it. Hence, applying the wick system.

Trying cheaper Chux wipes.

Instead of just four, twelve.

Didn't dig a hole this time, instead using an old pet enclosure, have had this mesh since 1967.

The good thing about potted Hydrangea, is they can be relocated onto the top of a compost heap, while another winter flowering plant is in the front.
