Making a seed box for children to look at from Balsa Wood.

A Balsa Wood seed box,  not filled yet- but when it is, it will look better.
One made years ago, about 15 years ago.
Frame from an Op shop.
The backing of the $2 Op shop frame used to plan the strips and the cuts.

Could buy a commercial frame, when finished, hang it on a wall, or mantel piece.

The lines are from the intersections of the horizontal and vertical lines. Here the height is 280, so 280/4 =70mm

Cut the wood into thirds.
Cut lengths according to the lines.

Using a saw to cut multiples strips in one go. Only cut half way.

Books to hold the balsa frame while the glue dries.
(The books are Elementary Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems- William E. Boyce and Richard C. DiPrima,  Third Edition,   Electromechanical Energy Conversion Vembu Gourishankar and Donald H. Kelly, Second Edition, Engineering Mechanics: dynamics, Second Edition R.C. Hibbeler and Calculus by Stanley I. Grossman., but other books should be equally suitable. (Although, the writer may be better off reading.studying these than making children's seed boxes.)

The white plugs are foam from foam veg boxes.

Could use the commercial frame with a compartment box glued behind the glass. Would need to cut the commercial compartment box to suit..
