Growing oversized plants, and saving water.
Living in the driest state, our water prices are going up.
In this picture, between 2006 (top) and 2012(bottom), the price of water increased 7 times.
Comparing prices around the world.
Not as bad as Denmark, but they have a lot more water as snow/hail/rain/drizzle.
But still, receiving the water bill, makes us hop to it, to find ways to save water in the garden.
.
We can use buckets, various containers, and hydroponics to cut water usage.
Above is a branching Stock, (Austral Stock- 1976 flower of the year in Australia)
Can get Apricot as well, but didn't take a photo, so, here is a white.
Foxglove in a bucket
Many "Foxys"
Note, Pallet wood does rot, so one can use treated pine as well, with a liner.
In this picture of Daffodils growing in a wheelbarrow, with a metal printing plate as the liner.

Here is a picture of Mesembryanthemem's- Livingston Daisy, growing in an unpainted wooden wheelbarrow.

Picture taken from the same spot, the Cineraria plants are in flower at about 1metre high, according to the metre stick.
Well most to 900mm, growing in almost impoverished soil.,
We are recipients of strong gully winds, so we have a Monty Python style shrubbery.
The shrubbery, is to protect the tall variety of Cineraria from wind damage.

School talk, re oversized sun flowers grown in buckets. Can just see grade 5 student's shoulder.
Doubles as well.
Above, If perlite is too expensive, try celery with no media at all.
The celery plants float on a raft, in a tub.
Coleus as tall as a 10yr old child, well, as long as it's in a pot.
Tubs, Growing tomato
Roma, with the above hydroponic setup. If you want to know, how the low cost watering works, without a float, ask about the watering system. It's basically two hoses, a supply hose and a breather hose.
The star, a bucket, they now in "Terra Cotta" (Clay Baked) colours, and with no "Nursery Pot Tax" applied.
